GoodWeave’s One in a Million Campaign

A member since 2005, Company C is proud to be part of GoodWeave USA. We support GoodWeave as it unveils One in a Million, the nonprofit’s new campaign to bring attention to its market-based solution to end child labor in the handmade rug industry. The campaign, whose flagship ad (seen below) appears in the February 2011 issue of dwell, made its official debut at the Atlanta International Area Rug Market January 13-16.

The campaign draws its inspiration from the estimated one million children exploited in the carpet-making industry when GoodWeave began its work in 1994, and the one million or more knots that go into each handcrafted rug. GoodWeave has helped reduce the incidence of child labor in South Asia’s handmade rug industry by an estimated 75 percent.

Announcing our 2011 New Year’s Resolution Contest Winner!

We brought back our New Year’s Resolution Contest and once again we received an outpouring of colorful and thoughtful resolutions from our fans. It was inspiring and enriching to read through each response; so inspiring in fact that we couldn’t honor just one! Therefore we have decided to award one grand prize winner, two runners-up and five honorable mentions. Thank you to all who participated; good luck in keeping your resolutions and we hope to hear from you again next year!

    Here we go…

The 6’ x 9’ rug of choice goes to Julie M. Webster who shared the following resolution:
“My resolution started earlier than the New Year (December 27th), because I want it to be a lifestyle change! I set up a “Success Corner” in my bedroom that has inspirational quotes, photos of me from happy periods of my life, pictures of my baby boy and Joe Manganiello (LOL), owls because i love them, and other things to help motivate me to eat healthier, be more generous and kind, put others before myself, and try to make a difference in the world! “Some succeed because they are destined to; most succeed because they are determined to.” My motto for the year!”

The following runners-up will receive a 2’6 x 8’ rug of their choice!

    ~ G. Clark
“My resolution is to stay present to the moment and the day with which I’ve been blessed. I’m always planning way too far into the future. By paying attention to the here and now it will hopefully enhance my senses to all of the color in my world. My mantra: Be present today!”

    ~ Voula
“My New Year’s resolution is not to have to make New Year’s Resolutions any longer and to live a life without criticism, judgment and guilt. Live and let live and accept people with their “imperfections” and they hopefully accept mine. To give without expecting back, to help by being supportive, and to accept that I can’t change others, but I can only change myself.”

Finally our honorable mentions will receive any 2’ x 3’ rug of their choice!

    ~ Andrea “Paprocki’ Whitford
“To take the advice of my 3-year-old, “Stop and look at the beautiful rainbow, mommy!” I will be trying to live more in the moment in 2011!”

    ~ Abbie Farenwald
“My resolution: complain less…appreciate more…be thankful for each and every day.”

    ~ Denise Dallmann
“My new years resolution is to focus on quality, not quantity in my life!”

    ~ Cherilyn Danks
“In 2011 I will face my fears, work on my weaknesses, let my anxiety go, appreciate the things I have and work toward the things I want.”

    ~ Martha Merrick
“I resolve to try and live each day in purpose and joy.”
