Announcing our 2012 Resolution Winner!

Thank you everyone who participated in our 2012 New Year’s Resolution Contest. We were blown away with all your thoughtful entries. We enjoyed reading your personal stories and hope you’ll keep us posted througout the year on your successes.

Gayle Orzech Sawamura is our grand prize winner of a 4’6 x 6’6 rug of choice! Her resolution for 2012:
“In my father’s 80 years, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He had a strong confidence in his abilities and determination that I have always admired. Dad passed away 2 years ago, and i used my small inheritance to fuel my lifelong passion – photography. After 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, I will open a small photography business this year. My resolution for 2012 is to cast aside self-doubt and believe that I can indeed be successful in my new career. The true gift my father gave me does not have anything to do with material things. He showed me how to live. In 2012, I will make my father proud.”

Congratulations Gayle, for taking a risk, living your passion, being adventurous and believing in your dreams! We are so excited for you and hope you’ll share pictures of your studio as you get it up and running. We believe sincerely 2012 will be a colorful year for you; from the photography in your studio to your new Company C rug!

“My new year’s resolution is to HAVE.MORE.FUN! We are planning exciting outings and adventures that will create family memories while trying to be budget friendly. I also want to make everyday be more fun by “unplugging” myself for a certain time each day and focus on my kids. I also decided to stop using my alone time (when the kids are napping or at preschool) to clean up and do normal housework. It is going to be my time to be creative and do projects. Wahoo! Here’s to a fun, productive, colorful and enriching 2012! Happy new year to all.”

Holiday Entertaining with J.M. Hirsch

We had an such an amazing time with author and Associated Press Food Editor, J.M. Hirsch, at our December holiday entertaining event. With the holidays approaching quickly, we thought we’d share a few recipes from the event to help make your holiday entertaining a little easier.

Spicy Avacado and Green Pea Hummus served on Wheat Thin crackers. Delicious!

MFA Field Trip

Kids are back in school, our oldest just starting college! Whew…

Walter and I decided to take advantage of our quasi empty nest and headed to Boston for a day of inspiration, lunch and shopping. We started at the Museum of Fine Arts’ new Linde Contemporary Art Wing. It was just what we needed!

Housed in the I.M. Pei wing built in 1981, it feels fresh and alive with imagination. We definitely found lots of color and design to excite us. Here are a few of our faves–

In front of the towering Chihuly “Lime Green Icicles”

Proltrona di Proust Armchair (Love it!)

Nick Cave’s “Sound Suit 2008”—lots of textures. When worn and dancing around, makes incredible sound!

Josiah McElheny’s “Endlessly Repeating” blown mirrored glass. Incredibly beautiful pieces.

Mona Hatoum Grater Divide (Walter’s must have for his dream city kitchen!)

Yes, great architecture, fun at the beach, delicious paella and tantalizing sangria. But loved this window at Hermes on Paseo de Gracia. They always have fabulous creations.

It’s a Pink Party!

Company C, a national corporate partner of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, is passionate about finding the cures for breast cancer. We believe pink is a color that should be celebrated all year long, not just during National Breast Cancer Action Month each October. From October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011 we’re donating to Komen 20% of the sales price of select items sold, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $25,000.

To spread the word and share our passion, Company C is throwing a Pink Party in July! Join us and share your passion for pink. Post pictures of your favorite pink items; clothing, flowers, shoes, accessories or home décor items. We want to see your pink!

On Monday, July 25 and Monday, August 1 Company C will select five (5) of the best pink photos and those fans will receive a Company C pink cosmetic bag!

As part of our $25,000 guaranteed donation we will also be donating $1 to Komen for each new Facebook ‘Like’ during our two week campaign. On Tuesday, August 2, we will select 10 Facebook fans at random to win our Patio Strawberry Daiquiri (2′ x 3′) outdoor rug!

Introducing the Thalia House!

Thank you to Twig Interiors for their work on the Thalia House! The install was just completed this week. The Thalia House is a home for young women recovering from eating disorders. It provides a supportive transition from inpatient or residential treatment to their home environment which is essential to prevent relapse. Company C is very pleased to have been selected by Twig Interiors as a vendor on the project. We hope our pillows and rugs will help to brighten the days of the young women residing at the Thalia House. Here’s a clip from NBC News talking about the opening of the Thalia House:

New Year’s Resolution Contest!

It’s that time of year again! We’ve decided to revive our New Year’s Resolution contest. We were so inspired by the outpouring of responses we received last year from our retailers, customers and fans – we can’t wait to see what happens this year.

There will be prizes, of course! Share your resolution via Facebook, Twitter or comment on our blog, Colorful Conversations, and you’ll be entered to win a 6′ x 9′ rug of choice. Contest runs from December 30, 2010 to January 14, 2011. So don’t delay, share your colorful resolution with us today!

Maybe you’re thinking about taking photography classes, learning to play the saxophone or donating your time to a local nonprofit who adds color to the lives of others.

Hard to believe it’s already November! We celebrated a colorful Halloween here at Company C.
