Natural Grounds

Company C has been adding to its Natural Grounds collection with each new introduction and this season is no different! The Yuri rug, introduced with the Fall 2009 collection, features a natural undyed background. Using untreated 100% natural wool greatly reduces the amount of dye used in the manufacture of a rug.

All rugs in this collection are also RugMark-certified. RugMark provides consumers with a third-party certification ensuring their rug was created without the use of child labor.

Does this mean your other rugs are not RugMark certified?

All of our tufted and tufted/hooked combination rugs are made in India and are Rugmark-certified. Rugmark offers third party certification to factories located in India, Nepal or Pakistan. Our hooked rugs are made in China so unfortunately, they do not carry the Rugmark certification. We fully support Rugmark and hope to see them expand their reach China in the future. We regularly visit our factories in China and have always been very pleased. For more information on Rugmark and the launch of their Goodweave brand, please visit http://www.rugmark.org.

As one of the founders of Company C, I have been visiting our rug production facilities in China for over 10 years. And from experience I can say they are first-rate in terms of product quality, labor standards and safe working conditions. We select every facility very carefully, and require them to adhere to a socially responsible code of conduct. Our in-country personnel also monitor our factories frequently.

Here’s a picture from my recent visit – a rug maker constructing the Foliage rug pattern.

I'm always impressed with the Story behind the rugs. Company C is one of the very few companies in this business that combines Social responsibility, Avant Garde Color, and produces products that people can learn from.

This approach comes with great risk of which i'm in admiration of. Imagine the risks taken by some of the great colorists and architect's of the late 19th and early 2oth century, Van Gogh and Antoni Gaudí.

Keep creating and watch the story unfold.
