I would like to nominate my dear friend Rikki and her son Niko. Rikki is a single mother to Niko who is 18 months old and suffers from Jaubert Syndrom which is a very rare genetic disease. His health condition slows his development/motor skills and at this time he is still struggling with sitting up on his own and learning to crawl. We don't know yet how this condition will affect his sight in the long run because there are so many different levels of the syndrom. It is pretty obvious at this stage that he does see color and react well to it. I think one of your beautiful and vibrant rugs would cheer up his mother and give him something beautiful to look at as he continues pushing forward and developing at his own pace.

The above nomine (and those listed on your FB page) are truly tough competition to beat and certainly each candidate deserves careful consideration and indeed has my respect…yet mine is a simple nomination: My sister, Laurie Ann. Nine years my senior, she'll always be my big sis and has always been one of the most courageous, considerate, motivated, smart and accomplished individuals I've known and loved. Not only was she a like 2nd mother to me while we were growing-up, but years later as adults, she's only grown to impress me more and more. After going through what has been the absolute hardest 2 years of her life recently, she's managed to overcome a divorce, a cheating husband, theft and more. Not only is she impressively stable, but she's managed to buy a new home and grow within her profession all in the same…yes, while most other families (or even single, non-parent individuals) are struggling to hold onto their jobs or find new ones in this down economy, my sister managed to get promoted within the same industry that she's built a noteworthy career in (PR); better-yet, she inspired a non-profit organization to create a new VP position and hire her so that she can give back and also earn more to provide more for her dependents (4 and 5 yr old boys). Her organization provides for children with cancer (and the hospitals which treat them). In my biased opinion, for Laurie Ann to be commended for her achievements and for simply overcoming adversity would be an understatement; her positive attitude and incredibly testimony to ideal parenting -despite all of the adversity she has faced- has been textbook steadfast. Not only has she been able to remain the same remarkable sister and mother that she was when she was married; but she's unselfishly bettered herself personally as a provider to her own children and for ill children nationally. I know a rug from C Company is actually on her list (especially since she's borrowing mine right now)…I nominate Laurie Ann, my big sis; a successful, hardworking, caring business woman and an exceptional mother…and simply-put, a walking, breathing testimony to what it means to be a good citizen, strong women and an exceptional mother. Laur, I know you belong to this group so I joined. I hope you read this…even if you don't win, my heart and praise goes out to you and the boys…Keep keeping that head up and doing what you do best. Life will only get better and someday this will all be water under the bridge for you and the kiddos. I love ya. – Forever, your Lil Bro.

I, too, nominate Laurie Ann for the rug of choice. In the face of such adversity over the past two years, she has shown such tremendous courage and grace. She's one of the most inspiring women that I know — a supremely intelligent and successful single mom with boundless energy, enthusiasm and just an exceptional spirit. For all that she has done to care for these two adorable boys while doing her part professionally to help fight pediatric cancer, she and her family richly deserve some “joy and colorful living.”

I nominate Brody and Denton's mom, Laurie Ann, for an infusion of Colorful Living. Two years ago, she was forced to start over and has been devoted to building a new life for her children. Leaving the house that she had envisioned her family enjoying for many years together was terribly hard. However, upon moving into a different house, her boys cheerfuly declared it the “happy house.”

It *is* a happy house that Laurie Ann has worked tirelessly to make their own. With the hopes of easing the transition, she put all of her effort into creating bedrooms for each child that reflected their personalities and interests.

As a single working mom, her time and resources are at a premium and there just isn't much left for her to put towards herself. She has been eying a Company C rug for months and I know it would be the perfect infusion of energy into her living room. She has created a warm and inviting home by piecing together items from friends and family; it would wonderful for her to have a piece that is truly her own and captures her personality and spirit.

Company C, please make Brody and Denton's happy house complete!

I nominate my first born Laurie Ann. She has always been a high achiever and continues to amaze me.

Laurie Ann is outstanding as a professional woman and is always read for a new challenge.

As a single mom she is devoted, caring and loving to the two sweetest boys who love and admire her.

The past two years have been extremely difficult but she has shown that when “life hands us lemons it can turned into lemonade”.

The Company C rug she has admired for her living room would be a warm and Colorful Living for a new beginning.

My nomination is for Rachel McNaul of North Bend, WA. She is the daughter of a dear client and friend of mine. Here's her story and why I believe she would be deserving of this award.

This link will lead you to the where the story begins with pictures on December 16, 2009 and is most impactful:

It's a miracle that Rachel survived!

This link will show you the progress of Rachel's recovery:

My hope and prayer is that you read through some of the the blog posts about what Rachel has endured over the past 4 months as a result of a careless DUI driver.and look at the pictures of the active, lively, Rachel that the world knows and loves.

She is now able to be cared for at home with her parents. That being said they've had to make some changes within their home in order to accomdate a wheelchair and other ADA requirements. I've volunteered my design services to help them get started and a beautiful Company C rug would certainly help Rachel's environment as she recovers from this incident. She is one spirit that brings color and live to those around her no matter what comes her way.

This is so wonderful that Company C is providing the opportunity to give the gift of a cheering boost of color and beauty in someone special's lie! I'd like to nominate my dear friend, Leah Rosch. Right now, Leah is facing breast cancer basically on her own. She moved from New York to Florida to start her own decorated cookie business several years ago. (You can see examples of her wonderful creativity, and her own love of color, on her website http://www.whatacookie.biz.) Last year her mom passed away (her dad died quite a while ago) and this year she found out she has breast cancer. She has worked hard to fix up her own very cute home (where your rugs would look terrific!) and is on a very tight budget. This week she starts radiation treatment and I would love to cheer her up! She really wants to move back to NY, but with the disastrous real estate market, it's been nearly impossible to sell her home. Maybe winning this would help her feel like things are turning her way! Thanks so much.
