A little more about the premiere episode:
Coolest Treehouse Ever Built Friday, January 9 at 10:00 p.m.
A haute cuisine restaurateur couple in Portland, Maine, have been dreaming of adding a Pete Nelson treehouse to their idyllic property for the past 20 years. These tastemakers are also close to Pete’s family – they live right next door to Pete’s sister, Molly. Living in a one-room yurt on their property, the couple has lots of fun entertaining friends, but is yearning for some privacy. Pete swoops to the rescue, building a sleek, gorgeous, modern bedroom in the trees. This slumber nest will nestle 19 feet high in the air in a grove of eastern hemlocks and white pines, with a bridge that connects the yurt’s deck, providing easy access for sleepyheads. He goes above and beyond, packing this floating suite full of firsts: a breathtaking copper roof, a towering rooftop crow’s nest, and a giant wall of windows that opens up to the outdoors just like a garage door, revealing a breathtaking treetop, New England view – Pete’s coolest treehouse ever built!
Just last week, I made a prediction here in the office that Pantone’s color of the year would be in the red family. We’ve been seeing red coming on strong in fashion and other products in the market.
Though I don’t drink Marsala, I do use it in cooking often! We’ve been mixing this shade with other red varietals including deep burgundy and loving the outcome. Marsala also looks gorgeous with shades of spicy orange, golds, and even pops of teal.
We introduced a few designs with accents of red this past season. For our Spring 2015, we developed more red designs including our fresh Exotica Collection that we launched recently at the International Home Furnishing Market in High Point, North Carolina. Our Oasis rug from this collection features a smoky red, similar in tone to Marsala, paired with a deep burgundy and gold accents on a driftwood ground. Red pillows and other accents in velvets, linens and cottons coordinate beautifully with this palette.
Enjoy a glass of Marsala and a full year of seeing red.
Orange is the warmth of a flame, an invigorating splash of citrus, the brilliant pop of an autumn leaf. The boldness of orange sometimes scares away the color-shy, but to our minds it is one of the most cheerful shades you can add to a room. Think lush tropical mangoes, coppery fall foliage, or summer’s most vibrant sunset, and you’ll instantly realize how much a part of nature orange is — and how easily it mixes with #green, #brown, sky #blue or lemon #yellow. A punch of orange zest can feel refreshingly modern; fun and retro; elegantly Asian, or beautifully floral. We have oranges for every mood, so don’t be afraid to add some much needed Vitamin C to your décor this winter — whether in a playful family room or kitchen, a sunny bedroom or to brighten up a dining room or den.
