The Fells, situated on a nearly 1,000-acre hillside in Newbury NH overlooking scenic Lake Sunapee, served as a summer retreat for three generations of the Hay family. John M Hay served as Secretary of State under both Presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt, and in August of 1902 President Roosevelt stayed overnight at the Fells while on a Presidential tour of New England. Now included in the National Register of Historic Places, charitable donations and volunteers help to preserve this historic estate and nature preserve.
Our friend and rug design contest winner Liz Hause is not only a talented interior designer, but also a passionate volunteer supporting the Fells. And this was her year to shine! Liz chose to decorate the Roosevelt bedroom for the annual Christmas at the Fells event, one of the largest fundraisers of the year. She anchored the room using Reflections, the signature rug she designed.
Liz is an amazing source of inspiration, whether it’s for holiday decorating or for a complete interior design project. Working with our Concord, NH retail team, Liz pulled just the right pieces to pair with her own elements to create a memorable Christmas masterpiece President Roosevelt would be thrilled to visit again. Great tips from Liz: natural elements paired with a soft palette of accents creates an environment that welcomes Christmas and the holiday season.
