At our core

When we started Company C in 1994, we drew inspiration from other like-minded companies that shared our passion for great design along with a commitment to creating a positive social and environmental impact. To us, sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a core value that we take seriously. We welcome external audits of our processes and manufacturers to ensure that we meet the highest standards. We don’t just talk the talk; we walk the walk and take pride in implementing the necessary changes to make a real difference.

Throughout our 30 years, we have partnered with multiple organizations working to make a real and lasting impact on the world. When we produced our own custom furniture, we worked with the Sustainable Furnishings Council to help reduce the harmful environmental impact of furniture manufacturing.  With our bedding collections, we worked with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to ensure that the quality bedding that we wanted for our family was delivered to yours.

Working for good

We have been passionate supporters of GoodWeave International since 2005. They ensure that our manufacturers are providing documented and verifiably-safe working conditions—and a safe and healthy environment—for all employees. In Fall 2023, Company C became Responsible Wool and Global Recycling Standard certified by Ecocert Greenlife (license #280513), This means that our products that carry this label can be tracked from farm or production facility to the consumer and are assured to have been produced under the strictest standards. While only products that carry the RWS and GRS labels are currently licenced, we look forward to continuing to add to these options.

We have welcomed these outside certification bodies to audit our business because these organizations are making a difference in our world.  Explore the links below and find ways you too can make an impact using the power of your dollar.

Sustainable furnishings Council:

The Sustainable Furnishings Council is the leading sustainability resource center for the home furnishings industry, focusing on suppliers, manufacturers and retailers of interior furnishings as well as the designers who specify them. The information, education and tools hosted by our council will bring transparency, literacy and action to reduce our industry’s impact on the environment and human health.

GOTS:

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.

GoodWeave:

The leading international institution working to stop child labor in global supply chains through a market-based system and holistic approach. We partner with companies and local producer communities to bring visibility to hidden supply chains; protect workers’ rights; provide assurance that products are free of child, forced and bonded labor; and restore childhoods.

Responsible Wool Standard:

The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) requires all sites, from wool farmers to the seller in the final business-to-business transaction, to be certified. RWS farmers and ranchers must meet animal welfare, land management, and social requirements.

Global Recycled Standard:

Global Recycled Standard (GRS) set the criteria for third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody. The GRS includes a higher (50%) minimum recycled content percentage and additional social and environmental requirements related to processing and chemical use.
