With the holidays knocking, it’s time to think about gathering friends and family to celebrate the season … and of course about the gifts that we all love to give … and receive! Thoughtful and sentimental offerings let people know you think of them throughout the year, but what about the place you love most…your home! Here’s what’s topping the inspired gift lists of impeccable residences this gift-giving season:
Stylish sofas can’t get enough of dazzlingly detailed pillows! Artisanal hand-crafted embellishments lend a worldly vibe, hand beading nods to stylish sophistication, and appliqué brings tactile and visual texture…jewelry for all your upholstered pieces.
Beds revel in layers upon layers… and your holiday guests will appreciate the added warmth of a place to repose with duvets elegantly covered and matelasse crisply complementing bed tops. And no bedscape can resist the gift of accenting shams!
The front door deserves all the attention at Christmas! But why stop with a beautiful wreath? 2 x 3 accent rugs are the perfect way to welcome guests, accent the craftsmanship of your home’s entry, corral snow and debris, and convey the personality of your home. And they are easy to change by season….or your mood!
No home would be complete at the holidays, or the whole winter through, without a luxurious throw ( or three or four) to accent furniture in any room, and banish chills all season long.
Easy accents, these are the gifts your home will welcome all year.
Pillows are an easy way to update a living room sofa or a bed’s pillowscape. It’s fun and fresh to seasonally change out your furniture and bed’s “jewelry”…just like you might your own. Let’s take a peek at some of your home’s most coveted trinkets and baubles.
Contrast and visual interest can be amplified by use of a single color story across varied coordinated designs.
Artisanal hand-crafted attention to detail creates a curated and worldly one-of-a-kind look
Monochromatic patterning creates coordination, depth, and unity
Velvet adds a warm and elegant feel
Motifs add a sense of whimsy and spark great conversations………and make great gifts! Have fun with pillows this fall, and pile them on for comfort, color, and texture as we begin to spend more time indoors.
Don’t forget all decorative pillows are 20% off & select pillows 50% off during our Columbus Day Sale… Through October 12, 2016.
Use a specific color in the pillow to tie it back to your bedding for a coordinated look, or use the pillows to anchor the bed in the room by bringing the wall color onto the bed’s pillowscape. Either approach will make the bed the center of attention.
Stacking or propping up decorative pillows into the mix of sleeping pillows on the bed adds depth and visual interest. There is no wrong approach. Pillows can be added in even numbers, or odd. Layer them on with smaller sized pillows toward the front.
The same color principles apply when accenting a living room sofa. Pillows will help to make upholstered pieces a part of the room, reflect your personal style, and can easily change seasonally. There are a few logical rules that will help you select the right quantities.
Think of pillows symmetrically, where each side of the sofa should be balanced with a complimentary number of pillows.
Sectional sofas are trending. They have their own special 7 pillow approach.
Think 2 – 3 – 2…
We understand how Monet could become so obsessed! Water lilies have been a source of inspiration for centuries, their floating beauty offering a sense of calm, and an opportunity for reflection. Their colors and aquatic environment create dream-worthy moments, and were the spark of inspiration behind our water lilies hand-made rug and decorative pillow.
One of the earliest plants to ever flower, water lilies are considered the “missing” link between flowering and non-flowering flora, and have a number of interesting traits that species the world over share:
Water lilies live only in fresh water. Ideal conditions include a depth of 18 to 24 inches, and relatively still conditions making ponds, streams, and the edges of deeper lakes their ideal habitats.
Long stems anchored in the soil beneath the water attach to large leaves, or pads, and furnish nutrients to the plant. These lily pads create a floating canopy of green designed to collect sunlight for photosynthesis while providing shade for fish, and a resting spot for frogs and dragon flies.
The lily flower develops underwater, and when ready to open, emerges between the pads and floats on the water’s surface. The flower opens in the morning and closes at night for three days, then dies. Other water lilies in more tropical regions will replicate this same cycle and duration, with the difference being their blooms emerge at night as the sun goes down, closing the following morning.
Nautical looks return perennially letting us know summer has made its anticipated comeback. From US Olympic uniforms and fashion to home décor, the look is universally popular because of its clean, crisp, and classic feel. Whether sea-side or in the city, the nautical look is an easy to love…and just as easy to introduce in your home. Here are five quick ways to evoke a surf-side feel.
Layer on the stripes. Stripes are the foundation of nautical fashion, and striped accent pillows are the fastest way to add pop to upholstered furniture or any seating area.
Feature white and blue rugs. When it comes to nautical style, white and blue are the power couple. Add in some cool gray, and you have the makings of the perfect coastal color palette.
Express yourself with motifs. Whimsical Motifs express who you are, and start great conversations. Our Sealegs accent rug will add character to any room.
Hand-tied detailing. Hand-tied knots served sailors for generations…and add visual interest and texture.
Pantone, the color standard specialists to the creative industry, announced nine key color palettes that will be significant in home and interior design elements throughout the remainder of this year, and into 2017.
Little did we know, our all-new Water Lilies rug is the embodiment of the Day Dreaming palette, described as “a series of pleasant thoughts that distract our attention from the present”. Featuring Serenity (pale blue) and Rose Quartz (pale pink), Pantone’s co- colors of 2016, this home design palette reinforces the significance of pastels in interior design including paint hues, accents, textiles, appliances, and of course…rugs. Punctuation colors included in this on-trend palette include Blue Glow, Nile Green, Plein Air, and Yellow Iris.
In a word, Greige. Gray is the new beige, and as a color visually cools a space in summer months while adding a warmed glow in the dimmed light of fall and winter. It is the perfect neutral, half way between black and white on the color scale. Because it pairs perfectly with everything, gray continues to be the hottest go-to color for both product and interior design. Classic. Sleek and refined. Considered the color of intellect, gray matters for so many reasons.
We all love spring, and its annual promise of a return to slamming screen doors, long lazy days, and a cool drink on the porch. Summer is a care-free time, and that casual feeling translates into the design style that will highlight the coming months. Here are the 4 trends for warm weather, and there is seasonal fun for everyone.
Nautical nods. By land or by sea, summer is the season to pull out all the sea-side stops!
Bright, BRIGHT, B R I G H T S. Don’t be shy when it comes to color. Summer is the time to let your inner preppy shine.
Make a statement with motifs. Summer is the time for light-hearted fun, and a themed rug adds interest in a snap.
Outdoor living. Barefoot –friendly and easy-care polypropylene rugs visually ground outdoor furniture on a porch or deck. They brighten transitional high-traffic areas while simultaneously collecting the errant beach sand we all secretly love!
Decorative pillows add a dash of wow and visually pull together furniture in a room. They quickly transform a bed, chair, or sofa from ho-hum to yum, and provide a place for weary heads to rest..
Placing accent pillows requires following a few simple rules…your own! We love being symmetrical and balanced one day, tossed together the next…accent pillows make it easy to bring your personal style to life.
We have collected some of our favorite studies in symmetry for your inspiration…and contrasted them with a group of perfect pairings that coordinate, but don’t matchy-match. No matter your style, pile on the pillows for texture, visual impact, and a comfy landing spot.

Upholstered furniture is a major investment, so picking the perfect pieces to enhance your home (and your comfort!) takes some careful consideration. The following tips will help you find the pieces that are just right for you!
Look for quality construction. The sofa of your dreams should last for years provided you look for the best construction within your budget. Avoid pieces that are simply nailed or glued together…they will not stand the test of time. Look for a kiln dried hard-wood frame, doweled and tied construction, or sinuous spring construction. Company C uses only sustainably sourced kiln dried hardwoods featuring double-doweled eight–way hand –tied construction. Sure, we have high standards for our design and construction, but this ensures we deliver the highest quality. One quick quality test is to lift the sofa about six inches off the ground. If both legs elevate off the floor evenly, you have a solidly built frame.
Sitting pretty or spreading out? Determine how you will be using your sofa and chairs to initially consider the right size. A more formal setting may require only sitting space for guests, but if you are going to settle in and nap or read, look for a sofa that is at least 84 inches long and 40 inches deep. Consider cushion count as well. People avoid sitting in groups on a sofa if the cushion count does not match the number of individuals to be seated. If your perfect piece is over 7 feet long, elect three cushions. If 6 feet or less, look for a single bench cushion.
Know your style personality when choosing fabric. Upholstered furniture is an investment, so be sure you pick an upholstery fabric that will serve you for years. Patterns are a great way to bring depth and texture into your living room, and we love to mix them at Company C for a custom and one-of-a kind look. If you are not especially daring, select a solid that works with your rug and wall color for a more monochromatic look. If you are somewhere in the middle, accent your solid-colored choice with nail heads and welting that contrast for added visual interest. No matter your style, remember decorative pillows can add the WOW and bring it all together.
Pick the right place. A new sofa can transform your room on its own, or as a part of a complete re-design with other upholstered pieces. Positioning the sofa across from a fireplace may make a room feel narrow, while placing it against the farthest wall will welcome you and your guests into the space. Rather than spreading all your new seating out, create intimate seating areas for conversation, or group for easy TV viewing in a family room. Placement is a big consideration, so here is an easy way to prevent selecting the wrong size furniture, or worse….moving it multiple times to find the right home! Lay newspaper on the floor arranged to mirror the sofa’s dimensions. This will help you to visualize your perfect piece(s) to ensure you don’t select something to big or small before the heavy lifting begins.
Our room planner is also a great tool to use to help you visualize your space. You can select from pre-built room templates or build your own based on the dimensions of your room. Simply drag and drop the pieces of furniture into the space and then click on the products tab to select one of rugs to complete the look.
